Bel-Air (For Real)

Back in 2019, I highlighted a fan trailer by Morgan Cooper that asked the question: What if The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was rebooted as a serious, gritty drama? Somehow it made its way to Will Smith and now it’s become a real honest-to-goodness television show.

Three years ago, my guy Morgan Cooper uploaded his fan trailer to YouTube, showing how he envisioned the Fresh Prince as a drama,” Smith wrote on YouTube. Now, here is the first full look at his retelling of the story that’s always been so close to my heart.

My initial reaction to this was this was a genius idea. Obviously, Will Smith thought it had lots of potential as well. The trailer is a bit too grim and overly dramatic, but in context, it might work wonderfully.

Obviously, Smith will come back to be this new version of the Prince’s father.
